Chryssie Whitehead’s journey in the performing arts began in her hometown of Columbia, South Carolina and would continue immediately after high school when she danced for the iconic Radio City Rockettes in New York. Since then, she has built an illustrious career in Film, Television, and Broadway as an actress, dancer, and singer. After studying musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York, Chryssie closed the first National Tour of FOSSE and made her Broadway debut in the revival of A Chorus Line as Kristine. She is featured landing the role in the hit documentary about the show, Every Little Step,(Amazon Prime) as well as in the number “Sing” on the revival soundtrack. Additional Broadway credits include: Kitty/Velma US in Chicago (understudy, performed) and Kathy in Company (Lincoln Center with Neal Patrick Harris)) and has played numerous lead roles regionally: Cassie in A Chorus Line, Lola in Damn Yankees and Bombalurina in CATS.
Chryssie’s dance career spans from working in Los Angeles as a dancer touring with Paul McCartney, performing on the MTV Movie Awards (Choreographer: Marguerite Derricks) and getting her SAG card as the dance double for Julia Stiles in Save the Last Dance (Choreographer: Fatima Robinson.)
Favorite Film/TV acting credits: West Side Story Film (Director: Steven Spielberg), Greys Anatomy, Switched at Birth, Castle, The Mentalist, Warehouse 13, Private Practice, Grimm and the romantic comedy with Raven Simone, Revenge of the Bridesmaids.
Chryssie has joyfully crossed over to the creative side, directing and choreographing professionally, as well as educational productions of Chicago, A Chorus Line, Rent, All Shook Up, Into the Woods, Shrek, Grease, and more.
Chryssie remains a passionate educator teaching across the globe, while working in the business. Established in 2017, Whitehead became the co-founder of the performing arts educational company alongside best friend and colleague of 20 years, Alexis Carra, Broadway Arts Community The dynamic duo recently expanded their teaching skills forming their sister non-profit, Broader than Broadway with a mission to rebuild social connection through performing arts skills to underserved communities, est. 2024.
Chryssie is also an entrepreneur and writer having co-founded In My Own Little Corner Productions alongside her partner and Arts Angel, Kirsten Wrinkle, where her autobiographical play is produced. This show would have never come to life without her unconditional support.
